A bathroom-break title
David Porter recounted (Hit Parader, 1968) that he and Hayes were struggling for a follow-up single when he went to the restroom; Hayes, impatient, called for him to come write, and Porter yelled back the exact phrase that became the title — then rushed back, and Hayes worked out the whole song on piano in about five minutes. No lyrics reproduced.

A tiled bathroom wired as an echo chamber
Stax was a converted movie theatre whose tiled men’s restroom offered fantastic natural reverb — the pair wired a speaker and mic into it to pipe sound in and capture the echo. (The Doors later independently used the same trick on “L.A. Woman.”) Some copies retitled it “Hold On! I’m A Comin’” after radio objected to the original.
