The music video was released after Ralf Hütter’s recovery from a serious cycling crash that had left him in a coma. Hütter has said cyclists specifically understand how Kraftwerk’s music is composed, since moving with a bike means listening to the environment, wind and your own breath — closely paralleling the band’s approach. No lyrics reproduced.
Ciara’s “Promise” samples it; her video nods to a “broom dance” from “Breakin’” (1984), which itself used a version of the song. One of the actual bikes Kraftwerk rode in the original video sold at auction after Schneider’s death for $57,600 — 14× its estimate.
