Born the moment Atlantic signed the band
After MCA rejected their debut, the band crashed a party to play the tape for Atlantic’s Jerry Wexler, who wrote that it hit him “where I lived” and wanted to sign them on the spot. Producer Arif Mardin then requested two new songs — “You Got It” and “Nothing You Can Do” were written directly in response, before recording at Miami’s Criteria Studios.
